July 2025
Hello Families,
Welcome to our summer edition of our family newsletter. Finally, warm weather is here, and we can
enjoy the gardens.
Even though we are outside more, it’s important to remember hand hygiene and all infection prevention
and controls precautions! Outbreaks have subsided in volume but are still occurring. Please remember, if you have infectious symptoms, please keep yourselves safe and your loved ones here at Villa Colombo Toronto safe by preventing the spread of disease.
Because we were experiencing inventory issues, we are changing suppliers so you will see some new products in the home areas for skin care and
incontinence.
About 75% of families have signed up for Engage+ and have access to care plans. We would like this to be 100%, so please consider using this application and reach out to your social worker to get you on board. It’s a great way to get information about your loved one in a timely manner.
Villa Colombo Toronto is a participant in a cultural homes pilot established by the Ministry of Long Term
Care to increase the Italian composition of our home. If two or more applicants need a crisis admission, then priority will be given to the applicant who is or whose spouse or partner is Italian.
There are many cultural homes similar to us in the pilot and the Ministry is looking to learn more about care in ethno-specific homes.
There are lots of programs happening. I wish you good health and a great summer and I look forward to seeing you around the fountain or in the garden!
We are delighted to share that Amalia Aiello has rejoined the Villa Colombo Toronto community as the Assistant Director, Resident Services, during Sheenam Aggarwal’s & parental leave. Amalia officially began in her new role on June 9, 2025.
Amalia is a familiar face to many, having previously served at Villa Colombo Toronto for several years as both a Social Worker and Director, Nursing Unit. She brings with her over 22 years of leadership experience in the long-term care sector and a strong passion for enhancing the lives of seniors.
Amalia holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Ryerson University and is a long-standing member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She also brings specialized training in therapeutic approaches and counselling, further enriching the support she offers to residents and families.
We are thrilled to welcome Amalia back and are confident that her experience and insight will positively impact our community. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome back to Villa Colombo Toronto!
Best Regards,
